This lake is so wonderful. All year is a fine time in the Uinta Mountains if you go for the outdoors. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Rock Creek; a pleasant visit to Squaw Basin is a brilliant way to spend an afternoon. So many enjoyable things to do here in the Uinta Mountains, too good to be true. Why not camp at South Fork Campground if you're here at Diamond Lake, and going for a hike along the Skinner Cutoff
Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area.
This lake is so wonderful. Yellow Pine Campground is a glorious local campground. Lakes? Sure, Rudolph Lake is in the vicinity. Summertime at Diamond Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 30's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Diamond Lake. Diamond Lake gets very little

rainfall; September is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month of the year is March.
If you're here at Diamond Lake, you could visit Squaw Basin Creek, and not far from Diamond Lake you'll locate Mid Lake which is a delightful lake. Diamond Lake is a beautiful lake in the Uinta Mountains. Diamond Lake is not far at all from Evanston, and if the weather is good, you can go for a hike along the Highline Trail.
Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this location. There's whitewater on Duchesne River for all you thrill seekers, and you can have a fine hiking adventure along the East Fork Pinto Lake Trail.

MORE STUFF NEARBY:

Rock Creek
(...) The section is comprised of 3 class 3+/IV- drops with swift braided channels in between. It seldom flows since most water is diverted over to the Wasatch front from the Upper Stillwater Dam (it has to spill to be runnable.) Climatologically speaking, March is actually the month of our highest precipitation (which falls as snow, building the pack which then melts in May/June.) Most people find this section of river not nearly as rewarding as other runs in the state....

Continent Lake
I went there about 15 yrs ago fishing was pretty good....

Thompson Lake
I disagree with below.

1. Thompson Lake isn't even close to the most remote lake in the Uinta Mountains. For example, lakes like East Slide Lake and Wild Goose Lake are far more remote.

2. The boulderhopping really isn't that bad. It's well worth the trip.

3. There are some nice campsites just east of the lake.

Thompson Lake is off trail, but it's one of the more popular off-trail lakes (but far less popular than trailed lakes!) and well worth the trip....
This is the most remote lake in all of the Uinta mountains. It's a hellish 1-2hr boulder-hopping steep hike to get to the lake with NO trails or places to camp. Reserved for only extreme mountaineers....

LaMarla Lake
Lamarla Lake received it's name from my mother, Margaret Gurr Hamblin, her sister LaVon Gurr Hansen and LaVar Davies,(nephew of my dad Lyman Duane Hamblin Jr.) They were camping and fishing in the Uinta Mountains. While hiking they came upon the beautiful little lake. They decided to give it a name. They took LA from LaVar, MAR from Margaret, and LA from LaVon, forming the name LAMARLA. They posted the name by the lake. I grew up hearing this story. My mother Margaret passed away over twenty years ago. LaVon is still alive and lives with her husband, Omar in Springville, UT. LaVar is also living and resides in St. George UT. Both are in their eighties. As a child my favorite horse was named Lamarla....

Grandaddy Lake
10 miles away
The trail head leading to grandaddy lake that is around two to four miles. Info on weather conditions at grandaddy lake and info on how bad the mosquitos are right now...no fish...

Highline Trail
11 miles away
The U.S. Forrest Service last attention to this trail was in 1994/1995 and the trail markings in many places is all but non-existent.  Portions of the trail---particularly in the meadows areas have been overgrown and rock cairn markers, where they do exist, are often overgrown and difficult to find.  Do not attempt this trail without detailed terrain maps and GPS equipment and the ability to use both.   It would also be a good idea to carry a satellite phone (rentals are available) as there is no cell phone signal anywhere along the route from the Mirror Lake trailhead on the West all the way to the Chepeta lake trailhead  on the East...

Toquer Lake

My little piece of heaven! Maybe it will be yours to. Go hiking and enjoy some fishing and beautiful scenery!!!!!!...

Scow Lake

Is the lake named after my great great uncle Pete Scow who logged in the unitah mtns in the late 1800 and early 1900's. He was a tie hack. Do you know the history of the name Scow lake?...

Red Castle Lake
15 miles away
Nice lake, tough hike, and windy. Fished in late July, fishing was fair, but the size of the fish were between 14-19 inches. Wind was really blowing the day I fished here....
