Summertime at Crescent Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's, and the overnight is a little chillier of course, commonly in the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows at Crescent Lake through the wintertime frequently plunge into the 0's. And if that's not enough, there's a load more to do near Crescent Lake. You could also go to Fox Lake since you're here at Crescent Lake; it's close by, and going for a hike along the Dry Fork Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood. Western Inn is a good choice. Now, you may believe that's lots but there's even more enjoyable stuff to do here in the Uinta Mountains. Camping at Hoop Lake Campground is always a perfect experience; Yellowstone River has a perfect
whitewater paddling spot nearby. If you fancy a little side visit, try Fox Queant Pass, and Crescent Lake Dam has good water scenery.

 | Chepeta is a very hit or miss lake. Fishing can be absolutely dead one day and sweet the next. The water was crazy low two summers ago and there may not even be a lot of fish left unless they've planted it since. Worth the trip though -- if one lake is cold another will be hot.... |
Little Elk Lake
 | 16 miles away That's a pretty tough road to get there. I'd say about 4 miles in, but lots of big rocks. Great views though. We took ATV's up and it was a fairly unremarkable ride. We did see a couple of 4WD Trucks headed up too. Good scenery up top. I'd like to camp there and hang out. We didn't fish. It doesn't look really good for that.... |
