The beauty of Cirque Lake is reason enough to stop by. For the duration of the long summer days, highs ordinarily are in the 80's at Cirque Lake. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's with temperatures at Cirque Lake dipping down into the 0's throughout winter nights. There is a great hiking trail near Cirque Lake called the Shale Dugway, and get wet paddling

| | on Uinta River. After a long day outdoors Best Western Inn is a splendid site to spend a night or two; if you came for an overnight stay Uinta Canyon Campground is a fine place to camp.
This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Dry Fork Trail is always a magnificent adventure; Point Lake is a nearby lake that you could take a look at. Man, is there a load of cool stuff to do next to Cirque Lake. While you're here at Cirque Lake, you could also take | |

But wait, there's more amusing stuff to do in the Uinta Mountains. Wandin Campground is a splendid campground nearby; float down the rapids of Yellowstone
River in a kayak. It is very waterless here at Cirque Lake commonly; throughout May this area sees the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.

 | Chepeta is a very hit or miss lake. Fishing can be absolutely dead one day and sweet the next. The water was crazy low two summers ago and there may not even be a lot of fish left unless they've planted it since. Worth the trip though -- if one lake is cold another will be hot.... |

That's a pretty tough road to get there. I'd say about 4 miles in, but lots of big rocks. Great views though. We took ATV's up and it was a fairly unremarkable ride. We did see a couple of 4WD Trucks headed up too. Good scenery up top. I'd like to camp there and hang out. We didn't fish. It doesn't look really good for that.... |
