to camp Whiterocks Campground is a delightful place to do that; some exciting geology is available here, Chalk Cliffs is right here. Get your heart pumping on the glorious whitewater of Uinta River, and don't leave Burton Reservoir
without first going for a hike along the Uinta Highline Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Take a little trip to Grouse Creek since you're here at Burton Reservoir, and a fine nearby hotel is SUPER 8 MOTEL - VERNAL. Near Burton Reservoir
you hit upon Mill Canyon which is a great place to have a look at, and probably you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Gull Lake is just a very short distance away. You're sure to come across some cheerful folks from Vernal here.
It is very dried up here at Burton Reservoir commonly; May is the wettest month with most rain while February is ordinarily the driest month.

Little Elk Lake
 | That's a pretty tough road to get there. I'd say about 4 miles in, but lots of big rocks. Great views though. We took ATV's up and it was a fairly unremarkable ride. We did see a couple of 4WD Trucks headed up too. Good scenery up top. I'd like to camp there and hang out. We didn't fish. It doesn't look really good for that.... |
Chepeta Lake
 | 16 miles away Chepeta is a very hit or miss lake. Fishing can be absolutely dead one day and sweet the next. The water was crazy low two summers ago and there may not even be a lot of fish left unless they've planted it since. Worth the trip though -- if one lake is cold another will be hot.... |
