If you are in this part of Utah make sure to pay a visit to Bobs Lake. The warmest time of the year at Bobs Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's; the nighttime is slightly chillier of course, usually in the 40's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 30's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Bobs Lake fall into the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. There's whitewater on Blacks Fork - East Fork for all you adrenaline
kick people; nearby you discover the High Line Trail which is a glorious hiking trail. Bobs Lake really is in the middle of a scenic outdoors paradise. Bobs Lake is tremendous enough to spend more than a day at, Little Lyman Lake Campground is a tremendous local campground; a lake close by is Lake Ejod.
Whohoo, so much amusing stuff in one place! The Uinta Mountains is great! There is a good hiking trail right next door to Bobs Lake called the Bear River

Smiths Fork Trail. Now, you may assume that's heaps but there's even more cool things to do here in the Uinta Mountains. Bobs Lake is not the only place close by, Dead Horse Lake is a close by lake, and Bobs Lake is a site with many visitors from Evanston. Around Bobs Lake you don’t get a lot of precipitation; the month with most of the rain is September, and January meanwhile is the driest month.
Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Blacks Fork - West Fork; going for a hike on the Bear River Smiths Fork Trail is always a great adventure. Camping at Meeks Cabin Campground is always a good experience; the top of Tokewanna Peak is easily seen from Bobs Lake. Bobs Lake is a beautiful lake in the Uinta Mountains.

Scow Lake
10 miles away
Is the lake named after my great great uncle Pete Scow who logged in the unitah mtns in the late 1800 and early 1900's. He was a tie hack. Do you know the history of the name Scow lake?...

Red Castle Lake
10 miles away
Nice lake, tough hike, and windy. Fished in late July, fishing was fair, but the size of the fish were between 14-19 inches. Wind was really blowing the day I fished here....

Thompson Lake
11 miles away
This is the most remote lake in all of the Uinta mountains. It's a hellish 1-2hr boulder-hopping steep hike to get to the lake with NO trails or places to camp. Reserved for only extreme mountaineers....

Lower Red Castle Lake
11 miles away
Fished this lake in late July this year. Mainly caught 8-9 inch tiger trout, along with some small Brookies, and a few rainbows up to 12 inches. Alot of fish not much size....

Highline Trail
14 miles away
The U.S. Forrest Service last attention to this trail was in 1994/1995 and the trail markings in many places is all but non-existent.  Portions of the trail---particularly in the meadows areas have been overgrown and rock cairn markers, where they do exist, are often overgrown and difficult to find.  Do not attempt this trail without detailed terrain maps and GPS equipment and the ability to use both.   It would also be a good idea to carry a satellite phone (rentals are available) as there is no cell phone signal anywhere along the route from the Mirror Lake trailhead on the West all the way to the Chepeta lake trailhead  on the East...

Toquer Lake
14 miles away
Great little lake, no signs of visitors, Fishing was ok. fresh worms seem to work best. This is one of those places you go to be alone. Very peaceful. This is probably my favorite place to go! My little piece of heaven! Maybe it will be yours to. Go hiking and enjoy some fishing and beautiful scenery!!!!!!...

Rock Creek
14 miles away
(...) The section is comprised of 3 class 3+/IV- drops with swift braided channels in between. It seldom flows since most water is diverted over to the Wasatch front from the Upper Stillwater Dam (it has to spill to be runnable.) Climatologically speaking, March is actually the month of our highest precipitation (which falls as snow, building the pack which then melts in May/June.) Most people find this section of river not nearly as rewarding as other runs in the state....

LaMarla Lake
15 miles away
Lamarla Lake received it's name from my mother, Margaret Gurr Hamblin, her sister LaVon Gurr Hansen and LaVar Davies,(nephew of my dad Lyman Duane Hamblin Jr.) They were camping and fishing in the Uinta Mountains. While hiking they came upon the beautiful little lake. They decided to give it a name. They took LA from LaVar, MAR from Margaret, and LA from LaVon, forming the name LAMARLA. They posted the name by the lake. I grew up hearing this story. My mother Margaret passed away over twenty years ago. LaVon is still alive and lives with her husband, Omar in Springville, UT. LaVar is also living and resides in St. George UT. Both are in their eighties. As a child my favorite horse was named Lamarla....
