The Pollywog Lake Trail offers hiking at its best, and Big Lake is magnificent enough to spend more than a day at, Escalante State Park is a magnificent local campground. This       is no spot for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. A great nearby hotel is Days Inn Torrey - Capital Reef. Take a hike on the Black Burn Trail. Lakes? Sure, Roundy Reservoir is nearby. Big Lake is pretty dry mostly; August is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month is February. For the period of the warmest time of the year at Big Lake highs are usually in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 40's.
