Lake Marion
Lake Marion is a very small lake or pond located North of Trial Lake and South West of Star Lake. My friend Victor Montoya and I visited Lake Marion and caught wild Brook Trout and Golden Trout fly fishing. I was surprised that this lake which is very very small had trout over 12 inches....

Provo River
15 miles away 1 PHOTO Great ride from above Woodland to the 1000 E. bridge (which is a good scare during high water, 1500 cfs). After the bridge the log jams, second diversion dam and constant river splits can be fun in the right craft (13 ft raft, not recommended). Great rush!... Yeah...this river especially the lower part...really rocks....
Highline Trail
16 miles away The U.S. Forrest Service last attention to this trail was in 1994/1995 and the trail markings in many places is all but non-existent. Portions of the trail---particularly in the meadows areas have been overgrown and rock cairn markers, where they do exist, are often overgrown and difficult to find. Do not attempt this trail without detailed terrain maps and GPS equipment and the ability to use both. It would also be a good idea to carry a satellite phone (rentals are available) as there is no cell phone signal anywhere along the route from the Mirror Lake trailhead on the West all the way to the Chepeta lake trailhead on the East...

17 miles away The trail head leading to grandaddy lake that is around two to four miles. Info on weather conditions at grandaddy lake and info on how bad the mosquitos are right now...no fish...
LaMarla Lake
19 miles away Lamarla Lake received it's name from my mother, Margaret Gurr Hamblin, her sister LaVon Gurr Hansen and LaVar Davies,(nephew of my dad Lyman Duane Hamblin Jr.) They were camping and fishing in the Uinta Mountains. While hiking they came upon the beautiful little lake. They decided to give it a name. They took LA from LaVar, MAR from Margaret, and LA from LaVon, forming the name LAMARLA. They posted the name by the lake. I grew up hearing this story. My mother Margaret passed away over twenty years ago. LaVon is still alive and lives with her husband, Omar in Springville, UT. LaVar is also living and resides in St. George UT. Both are in their eighties. As a child my favorite horse was named Lamarla....
