Big Elk Lake is located in the Uinta Mountains. Be careful coming to the Uinta Mountains, you might not ever wanna return home again. Big Elk Lake Dam is worth going to since you're here; Provo River is a magnificent whitewater spot nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Do visit Hourglass Lake in the vicinity of Big Elk Lake, it's a gorgeous lake; Daniels Summit Lodge is a magnificent location to get some rest. You       just must have a thing about Big Elk Lake. While you're here at Big Elk Lake it's a magnificent idea to go to The Deli Dell, and there is a wonderful hiking trail close by called the Smith Morehouse Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Big Elk Lake is pretty dry usually; the wettest month of the year is generally April, that's the one that rains the most while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Camping at Shady Dell Campground is always                  a great experience, and a gorgeous lake like Big Elk Lake is a brilliant place to go to. Big Elk Lake is pleasant enough to spend more than a day at, Camperworld Knotty Pine is a pleasant local campground, and going for a hike on the Nobletts Creek Trail is always a tremendous adventure. During the days of summer at Big Elk Lake highs are generally in the 80's; the overnight is a little cooler of course, mostly in the 40's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Big Elk Lake are in the 10's. That right there is a heap of amusing things already but it goes on, the Uinta Mountains has it all.
