Tucker Lake Dam has good water scenery and it's next to Tucker Lake, and let's not forget Caddo Creek which is a stream that you may stumble upon while here. All through the warmest time of the year at Tucker Lake temperatures are commonly in the 90's, and the overnight is a little chillier of course, generally in the 70's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 50's with temperatures at Tucker Lake dipping down into the 30's through winter nights.

| | This lake is so wonderful. Lakes are brilliant; Hurricane Lake is a lake that's in close proximity to Tucker Lake, and if the weather is perfect, you can go for a hike along the Mount Hope Tract Trail. Tucker Lake is good enough to spend more than a day at, Big Steve's RV Park is a good local campground, and there are plenty of people from Jacksonville here.

visiting mood you can always check out close by Honey Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Lake Palestine Campground and Lodge is always a perfect experience. Tucker Lake gets a common amount of annual rain; most of the rain
falls during May, and July is when it's the driest.
This place, Tucker Lake, it just has so much outdoors entertaining stuff. If you need a place to stay Best Western Executive Inn is a tremendous choice, and from Tucker Lake
you get a fine sight of Jim Beard Mountain. Dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn Express JACKSONVILLE, and while you're here you can take a hike along the Nature Trail.

...ot really any fast water to speak of, but you need to be prepared to make short portages and negotiate downed timber in the water. One area in particular you will need to tie some line off to your kayak and let it float under a downed tree, you crawl over the tree and then get back in. I'm sure the when and where the trees are down changes quite often.... And it looks like someone (probably the river authority) takes a saw down and cuts some of this out from time to time.
The put in location is correct. However, the take out is not. You need to float further down to the 175 bridge (less than 1/4th mile) and get out there.
I would suggest that experienced paddlers attempt this only when the water is high from heavy rains or when the dam is letting a lot of water out. There's vegetative litter stuck in the trees 10 foot above the water line.... So at some points of the year... This thing moves... And could represent dangers with the amount of timber.
You might consider taking a machete on this trip just in case. Don't forget the fishing pole, or if you are an arche... |
