If you came for an overnight stay Towkaw Falls RV Park is a great place to camp, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always pop by nearby Markum Lake Number 2. For the period of the months of summer, highs mostly are in the 90's at Taylor Lake, and throughout the night it cools down to the 70's. During the wintertime highs are regularly in the 50's, and night lows in the 30's for Taylor Lake. Not far from Taylor Lake, you'll come across Markum

Park Hike and Bike Trail which is a pleasant hiking trail. This lake is so wonderful. You're sure to encounter some wonderful folks from Waco here. This lake is so wonderful. A perfect close by hotel is La Quinta IS Woodway Waco
South, and there is a magnificent hiking trail close by called the Lake Whitney State Park Hiking Trail. Brazos River RV Park is a pleasant local campground, and you can run the rapids of Hog Creek. A common amount of rain falls
here at Taylor Lake; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and January is the month with the least moisture.

Hog Creek
 | Speegleville Road is not a good takeout point. A better trip would start from the low water crossing at Shiloh Baptist Church about 1 mi north of Hwy 185. Go all the way down to Lake Waco, cross the lake NE for 1 mi and take out at the City of Woodway Park at the end of Estates Dr. Total River distance is 12 miles. Water has to be 100-200cfs or better to be navigable upstream of the private road bridge on McLennan Crossing Rd which is 3.5 miles up from the mouth of Hog Creek at Lake Waco. Springtime fishing is good for white bass, largemouth bass, and crappie from McLennan Crossing Bridge to Lake Waco along Hog Creek.... |
