The great people of Athens like to hang out nearby, and       if the weather is pleasant, you can go for a hike along the Purtis Creek State Park Trail. Old Lake is a brilliant lake in the vicinity of Shelton Lake, and Americas Best Value Inn/Athens is a glorious site to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. Mine Creek is a magnificent local stream, and there are other sites here than Shelton Lake, for example Old Lake. For the period of the days of summer at Shelton Lake highs are frequently in the 90's. Once the                  sun is down it plunges down to the 70's. All through the winter highs are in the 50's while the cold winter nights at Shelton Lake are in the 30's.
