Lakes? Sure, Possum Lake is around here, and there is a glorious hiking trail close by called the Big Thicket - Beech Woods Trail. During the warm months at Shade Lake highs are regularly in the 90's, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 70's. Highs during the winter are regularly in the 50's, and nighttime lows in the 30's for Shade Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Red Cloud Recreational Vehicle Park; if you like swamps you're in luck, Burnt Slough is right close by. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Shade Lake has to offer, you can camp at Village Creek State Park, and nearby you come across the Big Thicket - Turkey Creek Trail which is a brilliant hiking trail. Lake; the wettest month of the year is usually May, that's the one that rains the most; the driest month is August.
Don't leave Shade Lake without first checking out Cocklebur Bend; the beauty of mother nature reveals herself
at Gourd Vine Eddy. Be careful coming to Shade Lake, you might not ever want to return back home again. After a long day outdoors La Quinta Inn & Suites Lumberton is a splendid spot to spend a night or two; why not take a little journey
to Mill Creek since you're here. This lake is so wonderful. Super 8 Kountze Big Thicket Natl Pres Area is a great spot to get some rest, and there are other locations here than Shade Lake, for example Clear Lake.
