     There are brilliant locations to look at along the Old Tram Hiking Trail; while you're here, you could also visit striking Chain of Lakes. While you're here at Schoechler Lake you will meet lots of folks from nearby Jacksonville, and if you came for an overnight stay Neches Bluff Campground is a tremendous site to camp. For the period of the long summer days at Schoechler Lake highs are mostly in the 90's while nighttime lows are typically in the 70's. For  
   the duration of the winter highs are in the 50's, and nighttime lows at Schoechler Lake during the winter ordinarily plunge into the 30's.
All the water falling down from the sky makes Schoechler Lake a wet place; May is when you get the most rain here; August is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. Near Schoechler Lake you discover the Mission Tejas State Park Trail which is a great hiking trail, and you'll find a pretty lake
 
               called Schoechler Lake. Going for a hike on the Neches Bluff Trail is always a great adventure, and there's some flowing water close by, Bodenhamer Creek is a stream you can have a look at while you're here.
And that's not all you can do here at Schoechler Lake. After a long day outdoors Holiday Inn Express CROCKETT is a great place to spend a night or two, and Pine Springs Campground is a tremendous local campground.

Just hiked the 20 mile trail north to south yesterday. Nice terrain, but the trail is in horrible shape. It looks like there has been no maintenence this year. In some parts, brush covering the trail was higher than my head....The Four C's is a beautiful trail, representative of the pinewoods area. Be familiar with landmarks as they can be very tricky....
