This lake is so wonderful. A tremendous place to camp here at Russell Lake is Oakdale Camp N Fish, and North Bosque River is a tremendous whitewater spot nearby. Summertime brings highs in the 90's to Russell Lake, and throughout the night it cools down to the 70's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 50's, and after the sun       is down during the wintertime temperatures at Russell Lake sink into the 20's. Visit Ice Creek if you're here at Russell Lake, and if you need a place to stay Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites GLEN ROSE is a good choice. The amount of rain that falls at Russell Lake is close to the national average; the month with most of the rain is May; December is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Take a hike on the Bosque Trail. Lakes? Sure, Clarke                  Lake is close at hand. Now, you may believe that's a load but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here at Russell Lake. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Cleburne State Park Trail; La Quinta Inn and Suites Glen Rose is a wonderful place to get some rest. The Dinosaur Valley State Park Trail offers hiking at its best, and not far from Russell Lake you'll hit upon Lake Reed which is a beautiful lake.
