On a brilliant day at Roach Lake you can take a hike along the Walter Buck Wildlife Management Area Trail, and this is a popular spot for folks from Kerrville. RV Park is a good spot to do that. Summer brings highs in the 90's to Roach Lake. Summer overnight lows fall down to the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 60's; after the sun is down during the winter
temperatures at Roach Lake plunge into the 30's. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this place. Moody Lake Dam is not far at all from Roach Lake. There's so much to do here at Roach Lake that you need to camp here for a while,
South Llano River State Park is a good spot for that. This lake is so wonderful. Lake Junction is a good lake close to Roach Lake, and a delightful location for whitewater paddling is Llano River - Johnson Fork. There is a tremendous hiking trail next to Roach Lake called the Kerr Wildlife Management Area Trail.

Kerr Wildlife Management Area Trail
 | 18 miles away We have had several disappointed visitors show up at the Kerr WMA due to this website. To be clear, the Kerr WMA is a research and demonstration site owned by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. It is not a state park and we do not have all the amenities of such. There is no overnight camping allowed and hiking is limited to one existing trail and paved roads due to on-going research on native and endangered species. Visitors are welcome to drive the main road and bathrooms are available.... |
