     There's whitewater on Middle Bosque River for all you adrenaline people, and lakes are such peaceful spots, why not check out Kunze Lake. There is a nice hiking trail in the vicinity of Red Bud Lake called the Mother Neff State Park Trail; you'll hit upon a delightful lake called Phillips Lake. Sleep Inn & Suites is a nice place to get some rest. There's so much to do here at Red Bud Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Heart O' Texas Fair & Coliseum  
   is a pleasant place for that. Red Bud Lake gets a normal amount of annual rain; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month is January.
The Cameron Park Hike and Bike Trail is a delightful hiking trail close to Red Bud Lake. So many cool things in close proximity to Red Bud Lake, completely unbelievable. After a long day outdoors La Quinta IS Woodway Waco South is a good location to spend a night or two, and there are plenty
 
               of people from Waco here. This lake is so wonderful. There are some wonderful whitewater spots on Hog Creek, and if you came to camp Mother Neff State Park is a glorious location to do that.
Throughout the summertime at Red Bud Lake highs are typically in the 90's. Summer nighttime lows descend down to the 70's. During the winter highs are in the 50's with temperatures at Red Bud Lake dipping down into the 30's during winter nights.

Speegleville Road is not a good takeout point. A better trip would start from the low water crossing at Shiloh Baptist Church about 1 mi north of Hwy 185. Go all the way down to Lake Waco, cross the lake NE for 1 mi and take out at the City of Woodway Park at the end of Estates Dr. Total River distance is 12 miles. Water has to be 100-200cfs or better to be navigable upstream of the private road bridge on McLennan Crossing Rd which is 3.5 miles up from the mouth of Hog Creek at Lake Waco. Springtime fishing is good for white bass, largemouth bass, and crappie from McLennan Crossing Bridge to Lake Waco along Hog Creek....
