Have a good hiking adventure along the Big Thicket - Beaver Slide Trail; after a long day outdoors Scottish Inns & Suites Liberty is a nice place to spend a night or two. While you're here at Rayburn Lake, you could also go to pretty Cypress Lake. There's so much to do here at Rayburn Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Chain-o-lakes Resort is a good site for that. This lake is so wonderful. If you came to camp Big Creek RV Park is a splendid site to
do that; dry warm beds await you at Best Western Dayton Inn & Suites. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 90's to Rayburn Lake. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 70's. During the wintertime this place gets highs in the 50's, and winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Rayburn Lake.
All the water falling down from the sky makes Rayburn Lake a wet spot; throughout the month of May you get the most rain around here, and the driest of

the months is August. Some of the water close by flows, like Davis Bayou, and you don’t have to go far from Rayburn Lake to make out the water at Cypress Lake Dam.
And if that's not sufficient, there's lots more to do close to Rayburn Lake. You need to pop by Tanners Bluff since you're here at Rayburn Lake, and Willis Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop at.

Lake Run-A-Muck

I remember living about 3 or 4 dirt roads past the lake coming from the main entrance (somewhere between Elsie's Alley and Rene Ln) when I was a kid (1978-1979), and the place looked nasty back then, as I believe it was a slow development.  Mostly cheap mobile homes, dirt roads and dangerous living, I could't go outside much with all of the snakes that were running loose within easy sight on a DAILY basis.  I wouldn't mids driving through to see what has since become of it, but my memory is remembers this place vividly, and not in a good way....
