Near Ratliff Lake you discover the Echo Canyon Trail which is a brilliant hiking trail, and obviously Helms Creek flows through this vicinity. For the period of the summer highs here at Ratliff Lake reach the 90's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 50's; during the dark hours in       the wintertime at Ratliff Lake temperatures dip to the 30's. This lake is so wonderful. There's whitewater on Hickory Creek River for all you adrenaline kick people, and if you need a location to stay Days Inn and Suites Llano is a nice choice. This lake is so wonderful. Oxford Ranch Campground is a splendid local campground, and after a long day outdoors Best Western Llano is a magnificent site to spend a night or two. Ratliff Dam is not far at all from                  Ratliff Lake, and the Summit Trail is a nice hiking trail close by. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always explore nearby Llano Park Lake, and Bullhead Mountain is a peak you can catch a glimpse of from Ratliff Lake. Lakes are good; Petersen Site 1 Lake is a lake that's close to Ratliff Lake. There are some good whitewater spots on Crabapple Creek, and Honey Spring is an inspiring spot to check out while here. Going for a hike on the Loop Trail is always a tremendous adventure, and Ratliff Lake is a pleasant site to visit for more than one day, Llano River Golf and RV Resort is a pleasant site to camp nearby.
