     Peveto Lake is pleasant enough to spend more than a day at, Cade's Cove is a pleasant local campground, and a quick spree to Prairie Creek is without doubt a great idea. You believe that's enough? Just getting warmed up. Lakes? Sure, Pleasant Retreat Acres Lake is in the vicinity, and on a good day you can take a hike along the Tyler State Park Trail. Peveto Dam is a picturesque site next to Peveto Lake; if you need a site to stay Windsor Inn and Suites is a good  
   choice. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop by close by Lost Pine Lake, and a splendid location to camp here at Peveto Lake is Yellow Rose RV.
At Peveto Lake through the warm days of summer highs are in the 90's. Summer night lows fall down to the 70's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 50's; after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Peveto Lake descend into the 30's. A good close by hotel is Baymont Inn & Suites
 
               Tyler. This lake is so wonderful. Soar down the rapids of Neches River in a kayak, and while you're here you will meet lots of folks from nearby Tyler.
Peveto Lake sees pretty high levels of precipitation; during May this area sees the most rain, and the driest month is August.

...any fast water to speak of, but you need to be prepared to make short portages and negotiate downed timber in the water. One area in particular you will need to tie some line off to your kayak and let it float under a downed tree, you crawl over the tree and then get back in. I'm sure the when and where the trees are down changes quite often.... And it looks like someone (probably the river authority) takes a saw down and cuts some of this out from time to time.

The put in location is correct. However, the take out is not. You need to float further down to the 175 bridge (less than 1/4th mile) and get out there.

I would suggest that experienced paddlers attempt this only when the water is high from heavy rains or when the dam is letting a lot of water out. There's vegetative litter stuck in the trees 10 foot above the water line.... So at some points of the year... This thing moves... And could represent dangers with the amount of timber.

You might consider taking a machete on this trip just in case. Don't forget the fishing pole, or if you are an archer, a bow f...
