There are some great whitewater spots on Meridian Creek, and at Olsen Lake Dam in close proximity to Olsen Lake there are some attention-grabbing things to see. This lake is so wonderful. Near Olsen Lake you come across the Meridian State Park Trail which is a great hiking trail; there's whitewater on Childress Creek for all you adrenaline rush seekers. Camping at The Safari RV Resort and Campground is always a wonderful       experience; going for a hike on the Bosque Trail is always a wonderful adventure. A splendid close by hotel is Ramada Gatesville, and there are good sites to discover along the Lake Whitney State Park Hiking Trail. So many exciting things close to Olsen Lake, completely fantastic. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always have a look at nearby Meridian Lake; a tremendous place to camp here at Olsen Lake is Hill Country RV Park. From a rainfall                  point of view Olsen Lake is a rather common location; May is when you get the most rain here; December is the month with the least moisture. For the period of the summer highs here at Olsen Lake get into the 90's with overnight lows in the 70's. The winter brings highs down to the 50's; overnight lows in the 20's for Olsen Lake.
