Sure, Crenshaw Lake is just a very short distance away. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Nelson Lake; Sister Grove Park Trail is a great local trail, and Nelson Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Collin Park RV Resort and Marina is a great local campground. A typical amount of rain falls here at Nelson Lake; the month       with most of the rain is May while January is commonly the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. A round of golf at nearby Buffalo Creek Golf Club is a great way to kill some time, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Duck Creek. All through the warm days of summer, highs mostly are in the 90's at Nelson Lake. Summer nighttime lows fall down to the 70's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 50's;                  through the dark hours in the wintertime at Nelson Lake temperatures dip to the 30's. There are plenty of people from Dallas -Fort Worth-Arlington here at Nelson Lake. If you need a place to stay Super 8 Rockwall is a wonderful choice, and there's some out of the ordinary stuff to spot at Greenes Lake Dam near Nelson Lake. You're most likely into lakes, Sands Lake is one of those nearby; if you come at the right time of year, Rowlett Creek offers some fine whitewater.
