If you like lakes and you're in this part of Texas you can check out Munson Lake. This lake is so wonderful. At Duke Lake Dam right next door to Munson Lake there are some interesting things to see, and while you're here you can take a hike along the Big Thicket - Woodlands Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Lake Livingston State Park is always a good experience, and hiking along the Big Thicket - Big Sandy Trail is pleasant fun.

while nighttime lows are usually in the 70's. Through the winter highs are usually in the 50's, and nighttime lows at Munson Lake throughout the wintertime typically plunge into the 30's.

I remember living about 3 or 4 dirt roads past the lake coming from the main entrance (somewhere between Elsie's Alley and Rene Ln) when I was a kid (1978-1979), and the place looked nasty back then, as I believe it was a slow development. Mostly cheap mobile homes, dirt roads and dangerous living, I could't go outside much with all of the snakes that were running loose within easy sight on a DAILY basis. I wouldn't mids driving through to see what has since become of it, but my memory is remembers this place vividly, and not in a good way.... |
