If you are traveling by, why not stop by McGee Lake. Amarillo Koa Kampground is a pleasant local campground; a tour to Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument is worthwhile. Super 8 Motel Amarillo is a good site to get some rest; a tremendous nearby hotel is Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites AMARILLO EAST. McGee Lake gets very little rainfall; June is when you get the most rain here while December is usually the driest month. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff at McGee Lake. This lake is so wonderful. McGee Lake is a place with many visitors from Amarillo, and if the weather is fine, you can go for a hike along the Palo Duro Canyon State Park Trail.
