McGee Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. Go for a hike on the Palo Duro Canyon State Park Trail, and you'll meet a lot of people from Amarillo here. McGee Lake gets very little rain; most of the rain falls during June; the driest of the months is December. Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites AMARILLO EAST is a nice place to get some rest.

down to the 60's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 40's; during the dark hours in the wintertime at McGee Lake temperatures dip to the 10's.
