Best Western Southgate Inn & Suites is a delightful site to get some rest; nearby you stumble on the Onion Creek Trail which is a fine hiking trail. This is no place for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. Going for a hike on the       Rock Shelter Trail is always a magnificent adventure; paddling on Onion Creek is so much fun. This lake is so wonderful. At Barron Lake Dam right next door to Lake Number 1 there are some out of the ordinary things to see, and a golf course nearby is Plum Creek Golf Course. Camping is available at Crestview Rv Center; not far from Lake Number 1 you'll find M D Heatly Reservoir which is a pretty lake. There is a good hiking trail near Lake Number 1 called                  the Mary Moore Searight Park Trail, and whitewater paddling is great on San Marcos River. This lake is so wonderful. Here at Lake Number 1 there are plenty of folks from Austin-Round Rock. Lakes are good; Barron Lake is a lake that's in close proximity to Lake Number 1. For the duration of the warm days of summer highs here at Lake Number 1 reach the 90's, and the overnight is rather colder of course, regularly in the 70's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 50's; during the dark hours in the winter at Lake Number 1 temperatures sink to the 30's.
