You'll need more than a day to explore everything Johnson Lake has to offer, you can camp at Lake Somerville-Birch State Park; after a long day outdoors Comfort Suites Brenham is a perfect place to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. From a rain point of view Johnson Lake is a rather typical spot; the month with most of the rain is May, and July meanwhile is the driest month. A good nearby       hotel is Econo Lodge Brenham, and for you golfers we recommend close by Brenham Country Club. But wait, there's more to do right next door to Johnson Lake. Going for a hike along the Lake Somerville Trailway will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area, and Brazos River has a delightful whitewater paddling spot close by. This lake is so wonderful. Have a great hiking adventure along the Yegua Creek Park Nature Trail, and Johnson Lake is a great location                  to visit for more than one day, Big Creek Marina is a great location to camp nearby. Johnson Lake is not far at all from Brenham. Lakes? Sure, McCormick Lake is close at hand. High temperatures at Johnson Lake all through the summer are in the 90's while overnight lows are usually in the 70's. The winter brings highs down to the 50's, and winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Johnson Lake.
