Go to Johnson Lake if you want to go to a nice lake. Johnson Lake in fact is in the middle of a stunning outdoors paradise. There's whitewater on Medina River for all you thrill seekers; why not take a refreshing hike along the Hill Country State Natural Area Trail. This lake is so wonderful. You don’t have to go far from Johnson Lake to distinguish the water at Johnson Lake Dam, and there's glorious hiking along the Lost Maples State Natural Area Trails.

You'll meet a lot of people from Kerrville here, and a fine close by hotel is Inn of the Hills Resort and Conference Center. This lake is so wonderful. Throughout the warmest time of the year, highs usually are in the 90's at Johnson Lake while nighttime lows are mostly in the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 50's; after the sun is down through
the wintertime temperatures at Johnson Lake fall into the 20's. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Sabinal, and Horse Creek is close to Johnson Lake and is always a delight to have a look
