    Beautiful John M Brinegar Reservoir has much to offer visitors. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Mother Neff State Park Trail; paddling on Tonkawa Creek is so much fun. From a precipitation point of view John M Brinegar Reservoir is a reasonably normal place; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and January is the month with the least moisture. Lakes are perfect; McGinnes Lake is a lake that's near John M Brinegar Reservoir, and John M Brinegar  
   Reservoir is a good spot to visit for more than one day, Temple RV Park and RV Sales is a good spot to camp nearby.
Stratford House Inn is a good location to get some rest, and Mother Neff State Park is a brilliant campground nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Very fine water scenery is available at John M Brinegar Dam near John M Brinegar Reservoir, and this is a popular location for people from Waco. If you're a golfer then a great close by course is
 
               Greenbrier Golf Club, and not far from John M Brinegar Reservoir you'll find Rolling Hills Country Club Lake which is a stunning lake.
This is no place for people who don’t like to have fun. Whitewater paddling is brilliant on Middle Bosque River, and after a long day outdoors Comfort Suites Temple is a wonderful place to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. John M Brinegar Reservoir is right by the Miller Springs Nature Center Trail, and hiking along the Cameron Park Hike and Bike Trail is wonderful fun. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 90's to John M Brinegar Reservoir while night lows are typically in the 70's. Through the wintertime highs are ordinarily in the 50's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at John M Brinegar Reservoir drop into the 30's.

Speegleville Road is not a good takeout point. A better trip would start from the low water crossing at Shiloh Baptist Church about 1 mi north of Hwy 185. Go all the way down to Lake Waco, cross the lake NE for 1 mi and take out at the City of Woodway Park at the end of Estates Dr. Total River distance is 12 miles. Water has to be 100-200cfs or better to be navigable upstream of the private road bridge on McLennan Crossing Rd which is 3.5 miles up from the mouth of Hog Creek at Lake Waco. Springtime fishing is good for white bass, largemouth bass, and crappie from McLennan Crossing Bridge to Lake Waco along Hog Creek....
