    Beautiful Jackson Lake has much to offer visitors. This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at Palestine RV Park while you're here at Jackson Lake; dry warm beds await you at Best Western Palestine Inn. If you get bored of Jackson Lake, you could also have a look at close by McDonald Lake; Holiday Inn Express Palestine, Tx is a great site to get some rest. Jackson Lake gets a normal amount of rainfall; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain,  
   and July is the month with the least moisture.
If you came for an overnight stay HWY 155 RV Park is a perfect place to camp, and if the weather is great, you can go for a hike along the Nature Trail. Charles E Ham Lake is a nearby lake that you could visit; if you're stopping by from Palestine, you won't be the only one. Now, you may think that's heaps but there's even more fun stuff to do here at Jackson Lake. Whitewater paddling is great on Neches River,
 
               and if you're interested in hydro structures, you can stop by Charles E Ham Lake Dam.
High temperatures at Jackson Lake through the summer months are in the 90's. During the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 70's. During the wintertime highs are commonly in the 50's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Jackson Lake plunge into the 30's.

... a downed tree, you crawl over the tree and then get back in. I'm sure the when and where the trees are down changes quite often.... And it looks like someone (probably the river authority) takes a saw down and cuts some of this out from time to time.

The put in location is correct. However, the take out is not. You need to float further down to the 175 bridge (less than 1/4th mile) and get out there.

I would suggest that experienced paddlers attempt this only when the water is high from heavy rains or when the dam is letting a lot of water out. There's vegetative litter stuck in the trees 10 foot above the water line.... So at some points of the year... This thing moves... And could represent dangers with the amount of timber.

You might consider taking a machete on this trip just in case. Don't forget the fishing pole, or if you are an archer, a bow for the huge gar and buffalo. There's plenty of fishin to do .
