    If you like lakes and you're in this part of Texas you can check out Horseshoe Lake. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors amusing things the area next to Horseshoe Lake has to offer. Take a side tour to San Pedro Creek, and if you're here you will meet lots of people from nearby Jacksonville. This lake is so wonderful. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Neches Bluff Trail, and lakes are such calm places, why not stop by Pearman Lake.
If
 
   you need a site to stay Holiday Inn Express Crockett, Tx is a great choice, and Horseshoe Lake is a great lake nearby. At Horseshoe Lake during the summertime highs are in the 90's, and during the night it cools down to the 70's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 50's with temperatures at Horseshoe Lake dipping down into the 30's all through winter nights. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Horseshoe Lake; Mission Tejas State Park  
               Trail is a great local trail, and if you came for an overnight stay Neches Bluff Campground is a tremendous location to camp.
Pine Springs Campground is a great local campground; Horseshoe Lake is right by the Old Tram Hiking Trail. The high level of rainfall makes Horseshoe Lake a relatively wet location; most of the rain falls all through May, and August is the month with the least moisture.

Just hiked the 20 mile trail north to south yesterday. Nice terrain, but the trail is in horrible shape. It looks like there has been no maintenence this year. In some parts, brush covering the trail was higher than my head....The Four C's is a beautiful trail, representative of the pinewoods area. Be familiar with landmarks as they can be very tricky....
