Some of the water close by flows, like Atoy Creek, and you can have a great hiking adventure along the Old Tram Hiking Trail. That right there is a lot already, but it goes on; Horseshoe Lake has it all. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always have a look at nearby Brushy Lake, and there are plenty of people from Jacksonville       here. This lake is so wonderful. Rusk KOA is a splendid local campground, and if you need a location to stay Econo Lodge Nacogdoches is a magnificent choice. Dry warm beds await you at Best Western Northpark Inn. Lakes? Sure, Blue Lake is around here, and do take a hike on the Jim Hogg State Historical Park Trail. The high level of rain makes Horseshoe Lake a rather wet spot; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain; the driest month is August.                  At Horseshoe Lake all through the long summer days highs are in the 90's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's usually in the 70's.
