Many people like to go to Hollywood Club Lake. Neches River has a brilliant whitewater paddling spot nearby; since you're here, you could check out Brushy Creek. Hollywood Club Lake is a good location of common rain; May is when you get the most rain here, and August is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at Shady Pines RV Park and Campground if you're here at Hollywood Club Lake, and the scenery at Hollywood Club Lake Dam is delightful.

| | This lake is so wonderful. Castle on the Lake Inn and RV Resort is a good local campground. Summertime brings highs in the 90's to Hollywood Club Lake. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 70's. Through the winter the highs are commonly in the 50's; night lows in the 30's for Hollywood Club Lake. That right there is a load already, but it keeps on going; Hollywood Club Lake has it all. Lots of people from Jacksonville come to Hollywood Club Lake. Lakes | |

a wonderful place to get some rest. Dry warm beds await you at Best Western Executive Inn, and close by you hit upon the Nature Trail which is a nice hiking trail. You're possibly interested in lakes, Hollywood Lake is one of those close by, and the Jim Hogg State Historical Park Trail is a great hiking trail nearby.

...hort portages and negotiate downed timber in the water. One area in particular you will need to tie some line off to your kayak and let it float under a downed tree, you crawl over the tree and then get back in. I'm sure the when and where the trees are down changes quite often.... And it looks like someone (probably the river authority) takes a saw down and cuts some of this out from time to time.
The put in location is correct. However, the take out is not. You need to float further down to the 175 bridge (less than 1/4th mile) and get out there.
I would suggest that experienced paddlers attempt this only when the water is high from heavy rains or when the dam is letting a lot of water out. There's vegetative litter stuck in the trees 10 foot above the water line.... So at some points of the year... This thing moves... And could represent dangers with the amount of timber.
You might consider taking a machete on this trip just in case. Don't forget the fishing pole, or if you are an archer, a bow for the huge gar and buffalo. There's plenty of fishin to do .
