What a nice lake Hempel Lake is. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 90's to Hempel Lake. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's generally in the 70's. The winter brings highs down to the 50's, and nighttime lows during the wintertime for Hempel Lake tend to be in the 30's. at Hempel Dam close to Hempel Lake there are some exciting things to see. Lampasas River has a good whitewater paddling spot close by, and Settlement Branch is near Hempel Lake and is always a bliss to stop by.
This lake is so
wonderful. Going for a hike on the Angelina National Forest Trail is always a splendid adventure. Dry warm beds await you at Comfort Suites Copperas Cove; if the weather is beautiful, you obtain a glorious view of Antelope Mound from
Hempel Lake. You clearly must have a thing about Hempel Lake. In case you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Bee House Creek; a striking lake like Bluestem Estate Lake is a great location to stop at.

I just floated a 25 mile stretch of the Lampasas river from the hwy190 bridge in kemper to the 195 bridge near florence. It was a very scenic trip but the water levels at this time of year is a little low. All in all it was a good float, but the water could have been a little higher. not too much white water and a lot of downed trees blocking the path. Good easy float. but like i said, it needs more water to be a better ride.

On the offhand chance you may be back to read this, Kayakers are some of the most respectful people in the world. Why would you want to send someone to jail for simply passing thru a navigable stream that runs thru your land? I don't get it. You know, if it's that much of an issue, you could charge people entry or just insist they check in with you first. Most people aren't looking for trouble....This stretch and all others of rocky creek are private. If I see you on the creek you will at the very least go to jail for trespassing.... |
