Old Mill Pond is a nearby lake that you could check out. There's so much to do here at Harper Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Red Cloud Recreational Vehicle Park is a great place for that. While you're here at Harper Pond you will meet lots of folks from nearby Beaumont-Port Arthur, and after a long day outdoors Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites BEAUMONT       NW is a good place to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Tyrell Park Trail. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Harper Pond has to offer, you can camp at Village Creek State Park. Go for a hike on the Roy E Larsen Sandyland Sanctuary Trail, and hey, Cane Slough is a glorious local stream. High temperatures at Harper Pond all through the warmest time of the year are in the 90's, and the night                  is rather colder of course, mostly in the 60's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 60's with temperatures at Harper Pond dipping down into the 30's during winter nights. Big Thicket National Preserve is a perfect location close to Harper Pond; do go to Blue Hole, it's a beautiful lake. There's good hiking along the Big Thicket - Kirby Nature Trail, and if you need a location to stay Days Inn Beaumont is a wonderful choice. This lake is so wonderful.
