Have a nice hiking adventure along the Lower Rio Grande Valley National Wildlife Refuge Trail, and don't leave Hackney Lake without first checking out Pate Bend. Just can't get enough of Hackney Lake. A round of golf at nearby Shari Municipal Golf Course is a glorious way to kill some time, and on a delightful day you can take a hike along the Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge Trail.       While you're here at Hackney Lake you can take a hike along the Bentsen - Rio Grande Valley State Park Trail, and the fine folks of McAllen-Edinburg-Pharr like to hang out nearby. A great close by hotel is Super 8 Motel - McAllen, and you can stay the night at Valley Grande Mobile Home Park. Through the long summer days at Hackney Lake temperatures are ordinarily in the 90's with overnight lows in the 70's. Through the wintertime highs are commonly in the 60's                  with winter lows in the 40's overnight here at Hackney Lake. At Hackney Lake you don’t see much rain; during September this area sees the most rain; March is when it's the driest.
