     While you're here at Goldy Lake you can take a hike along the Jim Hogg State Historical Park Trail. Lakes? Sure, Twin Lakes is around here. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Goldy Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Shady Pines RV Park and Campground is a great place for that, and Holiday Inn Express JACKSONVILLE is a good place to get some rest. On a nice day at Goldy Lake you can take a hike along the Mount Hope Tract Trail,  
   and a good close by hotel is Americas Best Value Inn-Jacksonville. The amount of rainfall that falls at Goldy Lake is close to the national average; May is when you get the most rain here while August is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
If you want a glorious time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Goldy Lake. Bear Creek flows through this area, and Neches River has a fine whitewater paddling spot nearby. If you came to camp Lake Tyler
 
               Marina is a wonderful spot to do that. Stockton Lake is a brilliant lake in the vicinity of Goldy Lake, and the cheerful folks of Jacksonville like to hang out close by.
For the duration of the long summer days highs here at Goldy Lake get into the 90's, and through the night it cools down to the 70's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 50's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Goldy Lake temperatures plunge to the 30's.

... this yesterday with a friend. (July 11, 2009) This is a totally do-able float. There's not really any fast water to speak of, but you need to be prepared to make short portages and negotiate downed timber in the water. One area in particular you will need to tie some line off to your kayak and let it float under a downed tree, you crawl over the tree and then get back in. I'm sure the when and where the trees are down changes quite often.... And it looks like someone (probably the river authority) takes a saw down and cuts some of this out from time to time.

The put in location is correct. However, the take out is not. You need to float further down to the 175 bridge (less than 1/4th mile) and get out there.

I would suggest that experienced paddlers attempt this only when the water is high from heavy rains or when the dam is letting a lot of water out. There's vegetative litter stuck in the trees 10 foot above the water line.... So at some points of the year... This thing moves... And could represent dangers with the amount of timber.
