You'll need more than a day to explore everything Franklin Lake has to offer, you can camp at Village Creek State Park. This is a good vicinity for people who like lakes. Fish Lake is a lake in close proximity; hiking along the Big Thicket - Kirby Nature Trail is magnificent fun. This lake is so wonderful. What would a place like Franklin Lake be without exciting close by       highlights like Cocklebur Bend; Franklin Lake is right by the Roy E Larsen Sandyland Sanctuary Trail. At Franklin Lake throughout the warm days of summer highs are in the 90's. Through the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 70's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 50's with winter lows in the 30's overnight here at Franklin Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes are wonderful; Black Creek Lake is a lake that's in close proximity to Franklin Lake. Franklin                  Lake is a wet location that gets a large amount of rainfall; most of the rain falls all through May, and August is when it's the driest. Going for a hike along the Big Thicket - Turkey Creek Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area; on a fine day you can explore Burnt Slough, a swamp close to Franklin Lake. If only every site had this much outdoors enjoyable stuff, what a great earth it would be. La Quinta Inn & Suites Lumberton is a pleasant site to get some rest; don't forget to take a great little journey to Black Creek.
