Many people like to go to Flournoy Lake. Don't leave Flournoy Lake without first going for a hike along the Martin Dies State Park Trail; a good nearby hotel is Econo Lodge Jasper. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a site to stay Swann Hotel is a nice choice, and Flournoy Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Martin Dies Jr. State Park is a great local campground. Flournoy Lake gets much water; through December this area sees the most rain while August is usually the driest month. For the duration of the summer, highs usually are in the 90's at Flournoy Lake. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 70's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 50's with temperatures at Flournoy Lake dipping down into the 30's | |

Go for a hike on the Old River Woodland Trail, and there's great hiking along the Big Thicket - Beech Woods Trail.
