Lots of rainfall falls at Echols Lake; May is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month of the year is August. A great close by hotel is Quality Inn & Suites Athens, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Purtis Creek State Park Trail. This lake is so wonderful.       After a long day outdoors Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites ATHENS is a nice place to spend a night or two, as expected you could also stop at Echols Lake if you're here; it's not far at all. Having a delightful time at Echols Lake is painless. This is a popular place for people from Athens; a round of golf at nearby Echo Creek Country Club is a pleasant way to kill some time. Throughout the long summer days here at Echols Lake, high temperatures mostly                  reach the 90's with night lows in the 70's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 50's; during the dark hours in the wintertime at Echols Lake temperatures sink to the 30's.
