     Camping is available at Shady Pines RV Park and Campground, and dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites TYLER SOUTH. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a location to stay Sleep Inn & Suites is a fine choice, and some close by water includes Bell Branch. If only every site had this much outdoors amusing stuff, what a great world it would be. A pleasant spot to camp here at Dodds Lake is Lake Tyler Marina, and you can take a little visit  
   to Dodds Lake Dam since you're here at Dodds Lake. Not far from Dodds Lake, you'll find Lake Tyler which is a lovely lake, and get dripping wet paddling on Neches River.
The annual rainfall here at Dodds Lake is about average; May is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is August. For the period of the summer here at Dodds Lake, high temperatures regularly reach the 90's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 70's. Daytime
 
               highs during the winter are in the 50's with temperatures at Dodds Lake dipping down into the 30's through winter nights.
Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit nearby Grove Club Lake, and at Dodds Lake you always meet someone from Tyler.

...d to tie some line off to your kayak and let it float under a downed tree, you crawl over the tree and then get back in. I'm sure the when and where the trees are down changes quite often.... And it looks like someone (probably the river authority) takes a saw down and cuts some of this out from time to time.

The put in location is correct. However, the take out is not. You need to float further down to the 175 bridge (less than 1/4th mile) and get out there.

I would suggest that experienced paddlers attempt this only when the water is high from heavy rains or when the dam is letting a lot of water out. There's vegetative litter stuck in the trees 10 foot above the water line.... So at some points of the year... This thing moves... And could represent dangers with the amount of timber.

You might consider taking a machete on this trip just in case. Don't forget the fishing pole, or if you are an archer, a bow for the huge gar and buffalo. There's plenty of fishin to do .
