The Common Loon, American White Pelican, Black-crowned Night Heron, Great Horned Owl, Green Jay and Altamira Oriole are just a few of the birds that have been documented at our park. Local wildlife such as turkey, coyotes, deer and boar can be seen frequently as they roam the banks of this busy river. Sit on the pier and enjoy seeing dolphins, barges as they travel back and forth to the port of Harlingen and boaters headed to the Laguna Madre for a day of fishing or a fun afternoon on the water. The Laguna Atasacosa Wildlife Refuge is just 13 miles away and is a favorite of hikers and those who want a closer look at what calls the Valley their home.
