     Looking for something near Coon Pond? Brushy Lake is close at hand; close by you discover the Neches Bluff Trail which is a delightful hiking trail. Pine Springs Campground is a glorious campground nearby, and going for a hike on the Old Tram Hiking Trail is always a nice adventure. This lake is so wonderful. You're perhaps hooked on lakes, Horseshoe Lake is one of those close by, and there is a magnificent hiking trail nearby called the Mission Tejas State  
   Park Trail.
High temperatures at Coon Pond through the summertime months are in the 90's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's generally in the 70's. All through the winter highs are usually in the 50's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Coon Pond plunge into the 30's. Just hiked the 20 mile trail north to south yesterday. Nice terrain, but the trail is in horrible shape. It looks like there has been no maintenence this year. In some parts, brush covering the trail was higher than my head....The Four C's is a beautiful trail, representative of the pinewoods area. Be familiar with landmarks as they can be very tricky....
