You simply should love Cook Lake. There are plenty of people from Jacksonville here at Cook Lake; camping is available at Mouth of Hickory Creek Campground. Throughout the warmest time of the year, highs usually are in the 90's at Cook Lake while nighttime lows are typically in the 70's. For the period of the winter the highs are frequently in the 50's; during the dark hours in the wintertime       at Cook Lake temperatures drop to the 30's. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Cook Lake; Ratcliff Lake Trail is a wonderful local trail, and camping at Pine Springs Campground is always a nice experience. Cook Lake gets a lot of water; through May this area sees the most rain, and August is the month with the least moisture. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Mission Tejas State Park Trail; there's some flowing water close by, Boatwright Creek                  is a stream you can stop by while you're here. This lake is so wonderful.
