Sure, Lowes Tinaja is right next door to Contrabando Waterhole, and on a good day you can take a hike along the Big Bend Ranch State Park Trail. This is a fine region for folks who like lakes. Tinaja Blanca is a lake in the neighborhood, and Maverick Ranch RV Park at Lajitas Resort and Spa is a nice campground nearby. Contrabando Waterhole is pretty dried up regularly; the month of September is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest       of the months is March. All through the months of summer highs here at Contrabando Waterhole get into the 100's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 70's. Through the winter highs are in the 60's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Contrabando Waterhole temperatures fall to the 30's. At Contrabando Waterhole you can observe Contrabando Mountain, and Big Bend National Park is a great local destination. Life's too                  short to enjoy all the cool stuff in the vicinity of Contrabando Waterhole. Near Contrabando Waterhole you hit upon the Closed Canyon Trail which is a great hiking trail, and a good place for whitewater paddling is Rio Grande. This lake is so wonderful.
