     Texas has many beautiful lakes and Collard Lake is one of them. Mouth of Hickory Creek Campground is a glorious campground nearby, and don't leave Collard Lake without first going for a hike along the Old Tram Hiking Trail. Go for a hike on the Neches Bluff Trail, and Neches Bluff Campground is a splendid local campground. Collard Lake mostly gets much rain; the month with most of the rain is May while August is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
 
   Dry warm beds await you at Best Western Executive Inn. This lake is so wonderful. Very pleasant water scenery is available at Duren Lake Dam next to Collard Lake; some close by water includes Bluff Creek. This is no location for people who don’t like to have a good time. If you're visiting Collard Lake from Jacksonville, you won't be the only one, and if you've had enough of Collard Lake, Collard Lake is close by.
Good hiking is available along the Mission Tejas
 
               State Park Trail, and you're perhaps into lakes, Bog Lake is one of those nearby. High temperatures at Collard Lake through the days of summer are in the 90's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 70's. Through the winter the highs are mostly in the 50's while Collard Lake night low temperatures during the winter are in the 30's.

Just hiked the 20 mile trail north to south yesterday. Nice terrain, but the trail is in horrible shape. It looks like there has been no maintenence this year. In some parts, brush covering the trail was higher than my head....The Four C's is a beautiful trail, representative of the pinewoods area. Be familiar with landmarks as they can be very tricky....
