Haverlah Lake is a lake in the neighborhood, and if you don't mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Neches River. This lake is so wonderful. Since you might be in a lake visiting       mood you can always visit close by Davey Lake; Holiday Inn Express Palestine, Tx is a magnificent spot to get some rest. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 90's to Broughton Lake. Summer night lows descend down to the 70's.
