Bog Lake sees pretty high levels of precipitation; all through the month of May you get the most rain around here, and August is when it's the driest. Mouth of Hickory Creek Campground is a wonderful local campground. And if that's not enough, there's a heap more to do near Bog Lake. Not far       from Bog Lake, you'll come across Collard Lake which is a gorgeous lake, and the Mission Tejas State Park Trail is a pleasant hiking trail nearby. At Bog Lake all through the warm days of summer highs are in the 90's. Summer night lows descend down to the 70's. All through the wintertime the highs are commonly in the 50's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Bog Lake temperatures drop to the 30's. Bog Lake is not far at all from Jacksonville, and on                  a fine day you can take a hike along the Old Tram Hiking Trail. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Bog Lake you can take a hike along the Neches Bluff Trail, and getting to Bluff Creek from Bog Lake is uncomplicated.
