A visit to Bass Lake is always a good idea. An interesting thing to take a look at in close proximity to Bass Lake is Bass Lake Dam, and you can stay the night at Quail Crossing RV Park. Summer at Bass Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 90's, and during the night it cools down to the 70's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 50's; night lows through the wintertime for Bass Lake tend to be in the 30's. This lake is so wonderful. There are

| | some good whitewater spots on Hog Creek, and do visit Hall Lake, it's a gorgeous lake. If you want to explore some exciting stuff, explore Horseshoe Bend, and Super 8 Waco/Mall area TX is a pleasant spot to get some rest. A gorgeous lake like Thompson Lake close to Bass Lake is a pleasant place to stop by; there's splendid hiking along the Cameron Park Hike and Bike Trail. This lake is so wonderful. is a good local trail; Bass Lake is a great location to visit for more than one day, Towkaw Falls RV Park is a great location to camp nearby. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Middle Bosque
River, and if you need a place to stay La Quinta Inn and Suites Woodway is a tremendous choice. From a rainfall point of view Bass Lake is a reasonably normal place; through May this area sees the most rain, and the driest of the months is January.

 | Speegleville Road is not a good takeout point. A better trip would start from the low water crossing at Shiloh Baptist Church about 1 mi north of Hwy 185. Go all the way down to Lake Waco, cross the lake NE for 1 mi and take out at the City of Woodway Park at the end of Estates Dr. Total River distance is 12 miles. Water has to be 100-200cfs or better to be navigable upstream of the private road bridge on McLennan Crossing Rd which is 3.5 miles up from the mouth of Hog Creek at Lake Waco. Springtime fishing is good for white bass, largemouth bass, and crappie from McLennan Crossing Bridge to Lake Waco along Hog Creek.... |
