You'll discover a lovely lake called Horseshoe Lake near Aligator Lake; if you need a spot to stay Holiday Inn Express JACKSONVILLE is a tremendous choice. One of the major marks of the surroundings of Aligator Lake is Rocky Point, and Best Western Executive Inn is a great spot to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at Serenity RV Park and Campgrounds since you're here at Aligator Lake, and hey, Hurricane Creek is a delightful local stream.

| | You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors fun things the area close to Aligator Lake has to offer. Going for a hike on the Mount Hope Tract Trail is always a tremendous adventure, and the smiling people of Jacksonville like to hang out close by.

Aligator Lake dipping down into the 30's through winter nights. Aligator Lake gets a normal amount of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is May, and the driest of the months is July. A splendid spot to camp here at Aligator
Lake is R Place RV Park and Campgrounds, and on a good day you can have a look at Turtle Slough, a swamp close to Aligator Lake.
Near Aligator Lake you come across the Nature Trail which is a great hiking trail, and a beautiful
lake like Black Lake is a nice place to stop by. This lake is so wonderful. Get drenched paddling on Neches River.

.... There's not really any fast water to speak of, but you need to be prepared to make short portages and negotiate downed timber in the water. One area in particular you will need to tie some line off to your kayak and let it float under a downed tree, you crawl over the tree and then get back in. I'm sure the when and where the trees are down changes quite often.... And it looks like someone (probably the river authority) takes a saw down and cuts some of this out from time to time.
The put in location is correct. However, the take out is not. You need to float further down to the 175 bridge (less than 1/4th mile) and get out there.
I would suggest that experienced paddlers attempt this only when the water is high from heavy rains or when the dam is letting a lot of water out. There's vegetative litter stuck in the trees 10 foot above the water line.... So at some points of the year... This thing moves... And could represent dangers with the amount of timber.
