The scenery at Abernathy Lake Dam right next door to Abernathy Lake is pretty, and Sandy Shores RV Park is a glorious local campground. High temperatures at Abernathy Lake during the months of summer are in the 90's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 70's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 50's while the cold winter nights at Abernathy Lake are in the 30's. Abernathy Lake is a wet spot       that gets a large amount of rain; May is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is August. Just can't get enough of Abernathy Lake. You'll hit upon a beautiful lake called Mabank City Lake near Abernathy Lake, and some of the water close by flows, like Dry Creek. Do check out John Santerre Lake in close proximity to Abernathy Lake, it's a charming lake, and Super 8 Motel, Athens, Tx is a wonderful place to get some rest. A wonderful                  nearby hotel is Best Western Gun Barrel City Inn, and if you're here you will meet lots of people from nearby Athens. This lake is so wonderful.
