During the days of summer at Watauga Lake highs are generally in the 80's. During the moonlight hours it's commonly in the 60's. Highs through the winter are commonly in the 40's, and overnight lows in the 20's for Watauga Lake. A quick visit to Big Laurel Branch in the vicinity       of Watauga Lake is a nice idea, and going for a hike on the Laurel Fork Trail is always a glorious adventure. This lake is so wonderful. Watauga Dam is worth going to while you're here, and there is a great hiking trail close by called the Pond Mountain Trail. If you adore the outdoors, you'll love Watauga Lake. Near Watauga Lake you stumble on the Little Pond Mountain Trail which is a wonderful hiking trail; you can run the rapids of Doe River - Laurel                  Fork. Americourt Hotel-Mountain City is a great place to get some rest. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Watauga Lake has to offer, you can camp at Cardens Bluff Campground. Dry warm beds await you at Americourt Hotel Elizabethton, and a wonderful place for whitewater paddling is Doe River. Don't leave Watauga Lake without first checking out Bee Cliff; a trip to Pierce Spring will fill your spirit with great feelings. This lake is so wonderful. A perfect site close to Watauga Lake is Nancy Campbell Hollow. There's so much to do here at Watauga Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Laurel Creek Lodge is a wonderful site for that.
