If you need a place to stay Super 8 Motel - Erwin is a good choice, and nearby you discover the Clark Creek Trail which is a nice hiking trail. This lake is so wonderful. Walker Pond is a great site to camp, Nolichucky Gorge Campground is a great site. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Walker Pond is glorious fun, Bigrock Campground is a glorious local campground, and get your heart pumping on the tremendous whitewater       of Nolichucky River. During the summertime at Walker Pond temperatures are frequently in the 80's. Summer night lows sink down to the 60's. High temperatures throughout the wintertime are normally in the 40's while Walker Pond nighttime low temperatures throughout the winter are in the 20's. A great place to stop at near Walker Pond is Sand Valley; Bacon Branch is near Walker Pond and is always a joy to stop at. Walker Pond gets a lot of water; most of                  the rain falls through May, and the driest month is October. The Patty Ridge Trail is a fine hiking trail right next door to Walker Pond; while you're here you will meet lots of folks from nearby Johnson City. There is a brilliant hiking trail close to Walker Pond called the California Trail; dry warm beds await you at AmericInn Jonesborough. Now, you may assume that's a heap but there's even more fun stuff to do here at Walker Pond.
